SYDNEY/AUSTRALIA, June 1 2023 – Toshiba International Corporation Pty Ltd (TIC), and its USA- based affiliate EtaPRO® LLC (EtaPRO®), have successfully commissioned the thermal digital twins for AGL Energy Limited’s (AGL) Bayswater and Loy Yang A Power Stations.

The thermal digital twins are first principle thermodynamic models of the power plant cycles built using EtaPRO© VirtualPlantTM. The real-time benchmarking and rapid parametric study capabilities of EtaPRO© enable Asset Owners to understand and forecast how operating, maintenance and investment decisions can optimise unit performance, efficiency, process stability, combustion and emissions in the changing generation market.

“Toshiba is excited to partner with AGL to provide solutions that will drive plant optimisation, flexibility and efficiency under a broad range of operating profiles required in the future Australian energy market” said Chris Beacher, General Manager of TIC’s Energy Systems and Solutions Division. TIC in-house engineering and remote monitoring services will utilise the EtaPRO© VirtualPlantTM models and Asset Performance Management solutions to support AGL with delivery of their asset performance management objectives and development of self- sufficiency to take full advantage of the EtaPRO© platform and technologies.

EtaPRO’s Chief Operating Officer, Richard DesJardins, added “Leading energy organisations are looking for scalable and effective asset performance management solutions to accelerate their digital transformation efforts. Drawing from decades of experience implementing digital technologies, we look forward to working with AGL to achieve their key digital performance targets.”
