The EtaPRO FDM and PASS system can be upgraded to include additional Add-on packages that monitor the plant in real-time, providing information on plant operational improvements including thermal performance and asset reliability.

EtaPRO Fuel Demand Models (FDM)

The Fuel Demand Model (FDM) is based on the EtaPRO Performance & Condition Monitoring platform and uses steady state thermodynamic mass / energy balance calculations that are customized based on your plant's specific attributes.  The FDM model utilizes a sophisticated graphical interface that allows users to build complex plant models, while offering an intuitive method to rapidly prototype different model types for increased flexibility.

The online FDM is embedded within the EtaPRO configuration and is controlled and executed in real-time by the EtaPRO server.  The FDM monitors critical equipment such as boilers, gas turbines, steam turbines, HSRGs, condensers, and pumps, as a generalized thermodynamic modeling framework and operating as a connected system of power plant components.

The inputs to the on-line FDM are determined by actual operations (as defined in the Power Purchase Agreement or PPA). The EtaPRO server collects and conditions the online data and makes it available as model inputs for the on-line FDM, which calculates every EtaPRO update cycle.

The FDM system accurately models in realtime the plant fuel demand and heat rate given the inputs dictated by the PPA, while complying with the requirements and restrictions of the PPA. Combined with the PASS system, the FDM offers a streamlined method for providing the calculations for generating invoices for each billing period, in a way that is transparent to all parties and can be easily reviewed and adjusted post submission, based on communications between the operator and the offtaker. The inherent value being that representatives from the operator or offtaker do not need to sit down every month to manually consider the contract and ensure that all the payments and special circumstances of operation have been addressed, before any invoice values are agreed and settled. The FDM provides an objective semi-automated and easy to review framework that both parties agree on, to calculate the payment and to provide all necessary information to easily understand and resolve any disagreements over how the payment was calculated.

EtaPRO's Plant Accounting & Settlement System Package (PASS)

The Plant Settlement System calculates all terms required by the PPA/WPA to generate an invoice
easily and effectively

The model-based Plant Accounting & Settlement System is designed and custom configured to fulfill the requirements of the contract between the Plant's Owner/Operator and the Buyer to streamline the financial aspects of energy production, enable accurate and timely billing, improve cash flow, and enhance transparency in transactions.

The PPA/WPA fixed values are typically configured in separate PASS worksheets within the PASS calculations and invoice generation file.  Fixed values from the PPA are tabulated and formatted such that they are readily validated against the PPA.  These fixed values typically include terms such as:

  • Capital cost recovery charge rates
  • Fixed and variable operation and maintenance charge rates
  • Electrical energy variable operation and maintenance charge rates
  • Startup payments / deductions
  • Period weighting factors
  • Contracted specific net heat rate tabulated for each contract Year
  • Contract years start dates
